In recent years, Indian consumer behavior is experiencing a new change. A new kind of consumer segment is being created due to the innovation in the internet and tech industry in India. No longer is 1Mb/s internet a big issue and network stability has improved a lot. This has led to the boom of the Indian gaming Industry. Gamers that are what I would call this new segment are a fast-increasing segment of consumers whose growth has been tremendously accelerated due to the mishap of covid 19 and people being forced to stay at home.
Changes in the pattern of gaming
The fast and smooth-running internet that we all have today is not something that people in the past had access to. Today the internet is a need, just 10 years ago the internet was a luxury and many people had no access to it. So given that our tele-com industry has done a tremendous job in making the internet accessible to everyone, people have now started to spend the majority of their time online and using services associated with the internet
Secondly the mentality shift is what is pushing Indian gaming and Indian consumers. India is now considered to have one of the youngest populations. Indian youths and young parents no longer see gaming as an evil and consider it harmful to their child’s career. New gaming consoles are being bought and people now have a much open perspective towards gaming.
Also due to the sudden covid 19 lockdowns, people in home have been looking for investments that make their stay at home much more joyful and gaming has been one of the best go to investments that can be made.
Piracy in gaming
Though the gaming segment is clearly a fast-growing industry. There are some harsh realities that we have to face and accept. Majority of the games sold in India are expensive to buy.

Given that there are more than 500 well and award-winning games and the cost of 10 of such games might be more than the investment made on consoles / gaming PC, there has been a steady rise in the demand of preowned digital accounts & games which can be played and then sold to another customer again.
Another major issue that is faced by the gaming industry is piracy. Be it digital games or discs people are continuously looking for cheap cracks that allow users to play the game without downloading it and paying to the official developer. This affects both the user and the developer. Oftentimes these cracks have mining or other codes that run in the background and slow their devices and also due to this habit of downloading and using games from unapproved gaming sites a lot of revenue is being lost.
